It is the flagship hotel of the company which overlooks and provides scenic views of the well known and loved Hyde Park. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Shift Engineer.

The Role

As a Shift Engineer, you are responsible for carrying out appropriate maintenance work promptly and to the highest standards to deliver an excellent customer care.

A Shift Engineer would also be required to follow all company statutory and legal regulatory requirements during repairs. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Implement company statutory and legal requirements including fire, health and safety, hygiene, electricity at work, and all local by-laws
  • Respond to all enquiries promptly
  • Carry out maintenance repair work and ensure the appropriate PPE is worn during all repairs
  • Follow planned preventative maintenance programmes
  • Ensure good relationships with internal and external customers and contractors
  • Follow C.O.S.H.H regulations, in particular the storage of hazardous substances

The ideal candidate should:

  • Have experience in a maintenance role ideally within a hotel or similar building with bedrooms and public areas
  • Have a good understanding of Health & Safety requirements relating to the upkeep of such a building
  • Have the ability to work in a busy environment
  • Be flexible
  • Be a good team player with excellent communication skills
  • Have good attention to detail and quality

The Role

As a Painter & Decorator, you are responsible for carrying out appropriate work promptly and to the highest standards to deliver an excellent customer care.

Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • To carry out painting, decorating and related works on a routine scheduled and ad-hoc basis.
  • To work on shift Rota System (early or late)
  • To ensure minimum disruption and disturbance to hotel guests and employees
  • To work in a clean and tidy way best to portray the hotel
  • To ensure all materials and equipment are cleared away and secured when not in use.
  • To be able to deal with any reasonable requests from guests in a professional manner
  • To strive and anticipate customer needs whenever possible and react to these to enhance customer satisfaction
  • All maintenance issues reported immediately following the correct procedure.
  • To control costs through correct usage, stock rotation, minimising wastage, and stock ordering where applicable
  • Financial awareness and understanding of how the role impacts the hotel Profit and Loss Account
  • To use cleaning chemicals as directed, to achieve desired results and reduce wastage.
  • Must be aware of hotel facilities, restaurant /bar opening times, disable facilities and room types etc.
  • Carry out maintenance repair work and ensure the appropriate PPE is worn during all repairs

The ideal candidate for the position:

  • Must be aware of hotel facilities, restaurant /bar opening times, disable facilities and room types etc.
  • Should have knowledge of local area. I.e., Local shops and places of interest.
  • Know who to direct guest to if unable to answer queries.
  • Must attend all H&S and Fire Training as directed by designated Line Manager.
  • Ensure that while you undertake your role you abide by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and safe systems of work appropriate to your role.
  • In use of company nominated chemicals, it is your responsibility to comply by COSHH.
  • Understand the importance of adhering to company policy with reference to Hazard spotting, first aid reporting, and reporting accidents.
  • To have a complete understanding of hotel and Company procedure in the event of a fire.
  • To ensure the Company Health and Safety and COSHH legislation are adhered to; this will involve action and appropriate training.
  • Vigilance and awareness of self, departmental and hotel security.
  • Have a good understanding of Health & Safety requirements relating to the upkeep of such a building
  • Have the ability to work in a busy environment

The role:

  1. To ensure the implementation and monitoring of the brand standards and service level are achieved in all areas.
  2. To assist in managing of the front of house department and resolve any guest related issues.
  3. To implement service knowledge to maximum sales.
  4. To be responsible for setting up and maintaining all training for the FOH staff including H&S and front desk training for each individual staff.
  5. To assist in setting of the performance standards and training objectives.
  6. To be responsible for the monitoring and control of paymaster accounts
  7. To carry out reception shift procedures to the required Corus standards, ensuring all other staff do the same.
  8. To check the selling strategy for the day and to implement this procedure in the front desk.
  9. To prepare, monitor departmental forecast and rotas to ensure you are in line with the budget and meet business needs.

The Assistant Front of House Manager should have previous experience in working in Hotels. You will be a hardworking person who endeavours to always give 100%.  The right person should be well presented, be calm be able to think quickly under pressure. You must be able to think and act on your own initiative and have excellent customer service skills.  You must be able to manage and train the Front of House Team. You must be flexible in your hours including weekend shifts.
