Pride in London this June!

As soon as June hits, London is packed with parades, parties and protests for Pride Month to mark the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall riots. The London Pride Parade is traditionally the focus of festivities, but there are plenty of other LGBTQ+ events taking place both before and after it. Over a million people take to the streets of London for the celebration each summer. There’s events happening throughout the capital this June, but here are a couple of our favourites and all reachable from us here at Corus Hotel Hyde Park:

Pride Parade:

This year’s London Pride parade will take place on Saturday June 29. The 2024 parade route is yet to be announced, but in previous years it has started at Hyde Park Corner (A 30min walk from us!) before wending its way down Piccadilly, then south to Haymarket and Trafalgar Square, before culminating at Whitehall Place.  Unlike other big events like Brighton Pride, Pride in London is free and unticketed.

Desire, Love, Identity: Exploring LGBTQ Histories at the British Museum

Get to know the surprising queer histories behind some of the art and artefacts in the British Museum’s vast collection on this free tour of the iconic institution, only a 17min tube ride from us. Led by a knowledgeable volunteer, the 70-minute tour takes in a huge variety of objects ranging from the ancient world to the present day, illuminating the fascinating stories behind some of the museum’s most famous artefacts and lesser-known gems, including the Townley Diskobolos, the Gilgamesh Tablet and the Warren Cup.

Lana Del Rave: Pride Closing Party

With the never-ending list of parties scheduled for June 29, it’s easy to forget that it’s Pride weekend, and not just Pride Saturday. But it’s okay – Heaven Nightclub, just a short tube ride from us, has got you covered. This Lana Del Rave is a celebration of all the favourites from the alternative genre (think Marina, Florence + the Machine, Lorde, Paramore, Grimes, Ethel Cain and Sky Ferreira, plus more) to make sure we can wave goodbye to the weekend in style. But that’s not all – Queer artist and London-based DJ Callum Crighton will be on the decks, and there’ll be performances by Flesh & Bones, as well as tribute acts, balloon drops, confetti and (of course) lots of glitter. Why not stay the night with us after your big night out and make the most of your London trip?

So soak up the atmosphere and enjoy all that London has to offer this Pride Month!
